Putting Boundaries
On Your Contour Map
Why put a boundary on your map? To insure that data points are
honored for one... Pinchouts, No Sand, and more can also be handled
this way.
Use the Objects | Boundary
menu or the Boundary element on the Map Tree to draw
a new boundary or change an existing boundary.
Click on the Create boundary button
in the menu or the Draw/Cancel line button from the
toolbar panel to draw a line between points defined by left clicks
with your mouse. Use the right mouse button to delete the last point
defined. Close the polygon by clicking on the C key.
After defining a line, the Add Boundary to Map button
automatically stores the shape in the file called Border.brd and
automatically links with the given object. The boundary can also
be deleted or stored in a file of different name and later recovered.
Within the Boundary menu, you can also change the thickness and
border colorof the boundary line or make it invisible. Line width
or thickness is given in pixels beginning with zero. Width 0 and
1 appear the same in the screen. However, when zooming in other
packages such as Excel, a width of 1 increases in width; where a
width of 0 stays constant independent of scale.
Additionally, to add existing line to the boundary
lines collection:
1. Import the line.
2. Select the line by clicking the line name or double-clicking
any vertex of line. The selected line will be drawn in red.
3. Double-click the Boundary tree item or choose
the Boundary command from the Objects
menu.
4. Click the Add boundary button.
You
may also use the boundary as a value element building contour map
by using the Value
button. For a pinchout, for instance, and a value set at 0, the
boundary will be recognized as the 0 thickness line.
