You may load several load several different data series into DISurf
which will show up under the POINTS branch of the MAP TREE. However,
a contour map is created from only one selected series. To select
the series you want to contour, Double-click the name of series in
the POINTS tree item on the Map Menu on the left to select this series.
This allows you to edit or change contours by creating new data points
that can be hidden. See below for the methodolgy.
You may add, redefine, or remove data points by working directly on
a map. The Objects | Points menu opens
a list of all data points, or double-click the Data points
tree item. A data point clicked in the list becomes red in both the
basic and general view windows. Double clicking a data point on a
map selects it in the list.
The Esc key removes the selected data point.
The Add button inserts a new data point. It is not necessary
to enter coordinates manually. Double clicking on the map assigns
new coordinates. New points are green and are appended to the list.
You can also add data points from an appropriately formatted file.
Deleted points are marked by a cross and withdrawn from the list.
The Change button replaces a selected data point's values.
The Save button writes the edited data point file for
subsequent use. The edited list is employed ONLY AFTER PRESSING the
Redraw button to update the map.
The Estimate button calculates the interpolated values
for the points.
STEP 1... THE MAP.
STEP 2. LEFT CLICK "SERIES 1" TO SHOW SERIES
AND CLICK "ADD"...
STEP 3. CLICK POINT ON MAP AN D FILL IN VALUE AND NAME.
CLICK OK, THEN CLICK "REDRAW' ON DATA POINTS MENU.
STEP 4. MAP IS REDRAWN WITH ADJUSTED CONTOUR. TO "HIDE"
USER-DEFINED CONTROL POINTS, RIGHT CLICK
"POINTS" AND SELECT "LOAD NEW SERIES". SELECT
ORIGINAL DATA SET TO LOAD. CLICK "POINTS SYMBOLS"
FOR SERIES 1 AND CLICK THE "VISIBLE" BUTTON OFF. FOR THE
NEW SERIES (THE ONE WITHOUT THE CONTROL
POINTS), CLICK "POINT SYMBOLS" and CLCIK THE VISIBLE BUTTON
