 Editing Contours and Isolines

The Create contours dialogue box is automatically displayed after the Gridding operation is completed for Simple Contours, Color Fill Contours, and Color Relief maps. You may choose the default option, customize a new contouring interval and/or number of contours, or use the previous maps contour levels.

The Edit | Contours dialog box, which is also accessible by right clicking on the Contour label or sublabels in the Map Tree and selecting Format... allows you to change the value of a contour, insert a contour between existing contours, and view a particular contour.

The View contour dialogue box accessible by clicking the View button in the Contours dialogue box allows you to change the appearance (line thickness, color, and labeling) of the particular contour. Click on the All contours button within the View Contours dialogue to change the appearance of all the contours at once.

By right clicking the Contours label in the Map Tree and selecting Copy contours to drawings, You can copy all the contours to the Drawings group on the Map Tree. You can download one, some or all of these contour lines by then right clicking on Drawings or the particlular line and selecting Save to File to save the polylines to an ASCII, ArcInfo .Gen, or DXF file. To copy ALL contours, right-click the Contours tree item and then choose the Copy to Drawings  command from the context menu. To copy only one contour or one contour at a time, right-click the contour's name.
