Coloring Contours

A variety Color Bars are included in the COLOR file within the DISurf directory. Bars with the suffix 11 and 20 are good for contoured maps (11 gradations and 20 gradations). Those without suffixes have 239 gradations and are good for COLOR CELL maps. To create your own color bar, double-click a color in the color scale bar to change that color. Using the left and right slider squares, you may define several colors and use the center slider to create a gradation between colors defined by the left and right sliders. The example below shows how to create a red to white to blue color bar and save it.

To save your new color bar or to modify or use another color bar, bring up the Color Scale dialogue box by double-clicking the value portion of the color bar or click the Color Scale tool button.

To create a monochromatic gradational color bar, click the Minimum and Maximum buttons to set the colors for minimum and maximum values;

To use another saved color spectrum, click Load from file and choose among the colors in the Color folder in the DISurf directory, or choose your own saved color bar by selecting it from whatver folder you have it saved to.

To save your new color bar, click Save to File and select a folder and a name under which to save the color file.

Among the other things you can do within this dialogue box is:
Set number of colors. Maximum is 239;
Adjust the contour levels by clicking the Values button (good for creating non-linear contours);
Set the Up and Down (top and bottom) margins relative to the window height;
Set minimum and maximum values for fixed-value comparisons.
